I am sure that part of God’s continuing calling on my life is to invest well in the lives of our grandchildren.

I have been touched by the response to Part 1 and Part 2 in this series of blog posts but not surprised to learn that so many people could identify with my story.

We live in a broken world, and that brokenness often begins in the family. Patterns of addiction, abuse, sexual immorality, greed, and selfishness can start within family relationships and be passed on from generation to generation and transferred to the greater culture at large.

Each year provides new opportunities for grandparents like you to pass on your faith to your grandkids.

Remember, as grandparents, we are perfectly poised to make a difference in our grandchildren’s lives. It’s what we’re called to do, no matter our family dynamics.

Grandpa modeled an important truth for me: sturdy love means generosity of time in unhurried doses, a heart of selflessness laced with unmistakable acts of warmth, kindness, and understanding.
